Design and redesign of Breastfeed App UI

Design and redesign of Breastfeed App UI
Breastfeed App was created for moms who wish to keep track of their babies’ feeding habits and growth.

I designed the first interface design for this app during the development of the app in 2015. In this project, I worked with people both in Latvia and Portugal.

At that time I was just starting any sort of design work and had just learned a few things about UX design at the two UX Riga conferences in 2014 and 2015. My role in this project during the development in 2015 was mainly to design the UI of this app.

Six years later, I revisited this project in 2021 after getting the chance to attend the Riga TechGirls Mentorship program as a mentee in the UX/UI learning track. Following my own initiative and with the consent of the client, I worked on a redesign of the app's UI for my portfolio.

The main function of this app is to track:
• how often and for how long does the baby eat,
• any pauses the baby might take during the meals,
• the mood of the baby during meals,
• measurements of the child's weight, height, and head circumference, to see how the baby is growing,
• see where the baby's growth stands in comparison to a spectrum of healthy averages for the baby's age,
• get an overview of any feeding habits and behavior patterns emerging.

The original concept was developed purely for breastfeeding mothers, but when I recently worked on the redesign, I did some research and thought there probably should be an option to track bottle feeding as well. For this reason, I changed the design of the main control buttons that would be used for starting a record.
